It’s not about the past but the future.

Gazankulu Republic – Made in Afrika Dzonga began as an idea in 2008. Even though my love for fashion was sparked in 2006 through my first visit to the South African Fashion Week. Gazankulu Republic – Made in Afrika Dzonga was officially developed and launched early 2010, after extensive research I did about my people (Tsonga-Shaghaan people) (who they are, where they originate from and where they are today)

The Gazankulu Republic – Made in Afrika Dzonga project has slowly and organically been growing from just an idea to a platform and a fashion heritage brand that also shares and educates people about the history of Tsonga - Shaghaan people. Gazankulu Republic – Made In Afrika Dzonga is where History and Fashion is merged.

The project is made possible through much collaboration with creative thinkers, seamstresses, multimedia designers and printers.

Our Mission

- To create a culture where ‘Gaza people” are proud of their Heritage and who they are.

- Educate people about the history of the Tsonga people.

- Incorporate aspects of the Xitsonga culture into mainstream fashion.

Thank you to all the people that have supported the project and those that have bought some of our stuff and for sending the messages of support.
